Why is my pressure cooker leaking?
What am I doing wrong? I had a metal pressure cooker every time I tried cooking in it, it would leak all over the stove from around the gasket and come out around the handle. The gasket wasn't cracked but I could not figure out what was wrong with it so I thought it was broke. Water would run out and down the handle while it was cooking. I purchased a new one, different brand, bigger and better. First time I used it tonight and I'm waiting for it to start rattling/whistling but so much steam is coming out from around the edges that it is leaking just like my previous one. After 45 min I start smelling awful burn smell and realize all the beef I put in was making the smell, not the burner. I yank it off and open it up and find out all the water is gone and everything inside is getting burnt black. It never came to pressure. It just used up the water, but it all leaked out from around the rubber gasket. All the videos/info I can find online about leaking pressure cookers says it's a cracked gasket. This is brand new and inspected.
I did not over fill it. 2 cookers in a row? Every video I see on youtube people don't end up with water on their burners.
Any ideas is very appreciated.
Yes, it's not the gasket as it's brand new. I took it out again last night after cleaning out that black burnt sludge to inspect it and it's perfectly fine. Closing the lid wouldnt be the problem as even a four year old could figure that out. Simply down and twist until locked, not technical at all. That was the first time this one was ever used and it makes me think all these things work awful after two doing the same thing.

I have never-ever had a problem like what you are having. I can only guess that you are not closing and locking down the lid properly! Especially after you are experiencing the same problem with a new cooker!
Take a look at the gasket and inspect it for noticeable damage. The rim of the gasket should not have cracks or food residue along it. If the gasket does have food residue on it, remove the gasket, wash it in cold water and reinstall it.
then make sure that you fully engage the lock-down position of the lid!

The gaskets don't crack but they lose their sealing ability. Aand it has to be the right seal. Normally, the pot will leak like that that first and then abruptly it will seal up and begin the pressurizing. It could be your pressure cooker is warped.
