i bought a new hp desktop pc it has a new virgin 3 router but the emails both yahoo and gmail still seem slow any idea's please?

Are you using webmail or an email client?

If it is an email client are you using IMAP or POP3 protocols?

I have found some of the Yahoo services can be quite slow due to issues with the Yahoo servers. I rarely use Gmail so I don't know about that.

One of the problems with services such as Yahoo, Outlook and Gmail is that I believe they operate over multiple servers spread around the world. When you access your mail, the servers have to synchronise your account across the servers so that the service can establish that all your emails are available through whichever server your are actually connected to. This can take time, and with some services this can result in time-out and an error message being generated.

When asking about emails, you should include details about how they are being accessed in your question.
