"How long a journey", not "How long a destination". The destination is where you go to, the journey is the travelling.

Let's start with the English: destination means the endpoint of a trip or journey. Destinations are not "long", they are a single place at the end of a trip. Asking "how long of a destination" is like asking "how long of a Hawaii". You needed to ask how far they traveled, or how long the trip was.
The attack on Pearl Harbor was launched off of the 6 aircraft carriers of the Japanese Mobile Striking force. These carriers were the Kagi, the Akagi, the Hiryu, the Soryu, the Zuikaku, and the Shōkaku. At the time of the launch they were 225 to 250 miles Northwest of Hawaii
