What does the term "difficulty bridging" mean in Rehabilitation/Sports Medicine?

In recovering from an accident, the term "difficulty bridging" is being used.

Update:

The whole sentence was "Has difficulty bridging." That was part of the problem! Thanks for your answers - <3

This means the process (bridging) of going from injured to fully recovered has been more complicated (difficulty) than usual. The reasons could be many, but, in general, it suggests unanticipated challenges (issues or problem) have arisen that make full recovery more difficult to achieve.

We really need the whole sentence. Apparently people have difficulty bridging something. Probably "bridging" refers to making a transition from one condition to another but again we need the rest of the sentence.
