Why can I no longer connect to my VPN Server?

I have recently swapped my stock TalkTalk Fibre router (HG633) to a Netgear D6220.

I have PiVPN installed on a Raspberry Pi which I used to be able to connect to. However since changing to the net gear router I cannot connect to my VPN.

If you're running the VPN they require port forwarding and firewall allowance if the router has a firewall/ security which most of them do. You need to set up and create the correct port forwarding and allow it to go through the firewall.

I'd guess that the older router had some port forwarding set up to ensure that VPN traffic made it to your Pi, and that configuration didn't get carried over to the new router.

What type of vpn connection are you using to get to the Pi?
