Heat is the transfer of energy that is driven by a temperature difference. This energy is related to the kinetic energy of particles called the thermal energy. Internal energy characterized the total energy which is internal to the system and includeds thermal energy, potential energy between particles , and chemical energy.

Temperature is the measure of the average kinetic energy of the atoms or molecules in the system. The zeroth law of thermodynamics says that no heat is transferred between two objects in thermal equilibrium; therefore, they are the same temperature.
