How do you get sponsorship for an event, and how does it usually work?

I am currently running a comedy club, and it s running ok, but there is very little funds in which to expand and invest.

Someone suggested I could get sponsorship, from either a brewary, or local shops, hostels etc, but I m fairly inexpereicned and have no idea how to do that?

How does sponsorship work?

Do they give money upfront or in installmentS? Can they ask for money back? How do i approach people, without it seeming like I m just looking for free money.

We have a website, flyers posters and an audience, so I know we could help sponsors reach an audience, but I m at a loss to figure out how to go ahead and get/negotiate sponsorship

For the industries you mention, don't look for "sponsorship," look for advertisers instead. Make up a Playbill (just don't call it a playbill or you'll get sued) and offer advertisements.

Once you have an idea of what you will be producing, contact those local businesses and see about getting some advertisements from them....for which you charge.

Sponsorships are for charities...not for businesses.

If it is a brewery how is thag free money? They give u money and u push their product in your club. And put their advertisement inside. This is your task now- decide which way u can be benefitial to those businesses and then contact them and make an appointment and present your future collaboration. If it is a local shop u as well push their products and do advertisement. How can u be benefitial for a hostel i dont know
