What happens if someone tradmarks my idea before I do?
Let s say I have a name for a compnay and a logo. I set up a facebook page, but i don t have any of the legal paper work.
A few weeks a buinsess partner decides to trademark the name, and do all the legal work so he owns the business.
What would happen in this scenario?
Does he own it because he did the legal route, or do i own it because I originally started it
7 AnswersSmall Business3 years agoMy business partner wants to leave the company, but wont let me buy him out. What can I do?
My business partner wants to leave the partnership for at least 2 years to pursue other interests. He wants me to take on all the roles and responsibilities so that he doesn t have to worry about accounts or taxes etc.
However he will not sign over the company to me, nor accept a buyout as he wants to return if/when the business becomes successful.
He does not want to do any work until then. What can I do?
It seems unfair that he wants me to take on all the work and responsibility, yet he wants to waltz back in if things start going well.
5 AnswersSmall Business3 years agoHow do you get sponsorship for an event, and how does it usually work?
I am currently running a comedy club, and it s running ok, but there is very little funds in which to expand and invest.
Someone suggested I could get sponsorship, from either a brewary, or local shops, hostels etc, but I m fairly inexpereicned and have no idea how to do that?
How does sponsorship work?
Do they give money upfront or in installmentS? Can they ask for money back? How do i approach people, without it seeming like I m just looking for free money.
We have a website, flyers posters and an audience, so I know we could help sponsors reach an audience, but I m at a loss to figure out how to go ahead and get/negotiate sponsorship
3 AnswersOther - Advertising & Marketing3 years agoWhat is the best way to stop loud music coming through a door way?
I run a comedy club in a room upstairs from a bar. There is loud music coming from the bar, and it travels out an arch way, upstairs, and can be heard through a closed door in my room. There is another door on the other side we use to allow people in, so I was hoping to somehow block sound from entering in the doorway.
What would be the best way to stop that sound? I ve tried to put some carpet etc in the gaps in the door, but to no avail.
1 AnswerDecorating & Remodeling3 years agoHow do shares work in a limited company?
In detail I mean for instance
Two people open a company. There’s 2 shares, one each, each owns 50 per cent of company.
But then, lets say someone else wants to invest money. How could you sell shares to them? There are only 2 shares.
Do you “add” more shares? What if you only want to give that investor 10 per cent of your company? How do you give him 10 per cent of 2 shares?
Do you have create 10 shares and give the investor 1?
Then where does the extra 7 shares go to?
Sorry if this is confusing, but the confusion i have is why I’m asking the question
1 AnswerInvesting3 years agoCan I insist my aggressive landlord talk wth me in writing, rather than through verbal communication?
My landlord is aggressive, insulting and demeaning whenever I bring up an issue with my apparentment, to the point where I am too anxious to report problems because I only get grief.
Can I, for example, insist my landlord talks to me through writing (ie email or text). That way he has to either treat me with respect, or else give me evidence of his aggression.
9 AnswersRenting & Real Estate4 years agoCan I refuse to talk to my landlord in person, and only contact him through written form?
My landlord tends to be somewhat aggressive, demeaning and flippant when he talks to me to the point I am too anxious to talk with him. He also makes threats regarding upping my rent illegally.
Problem is there is no evidence of this.
Am i within my rights to not answer his calls and only talk to him in writing. ie text/email. That way I he has to threat me with respect, and if he doesn't I will have hard evidence of his actions
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics4 years agoHow long does it take to fry mince meat?
I just want to know how long to fry minced meat for it to become safely edible.
I don't want anyone telling me about Tomatoes, or cutting onions, or boiling, or different types of meats, or how to make it taste good, or seasoning. I looked this up online for a half hour and virtually everyone starts bringing in their own recipe about mixing mince with mashed potatoes or something.
I just want to know, how many minutes should I fry minced meat so i can eat it?
Thanks
10 AnswersCooking & Recipes5 years agoMy comedy club is being threatened with legal action because we use the word "Rabbit" in our title? PLEASE HELP?
In 2015 I opened “The Rabbit Hole Comedy Club”, in a side room of a pub called, lets say “Jimmy Rabbitts” (2 T’s)
We moved venue recently and kept our name, but the previous pub owner is threatening legal action unless we remove “Rabbit” (one T) from our name.
We are both separate entities. The comedy club used a room in their pub, but was never legally associated with it.
We are called Rabbit Hole, after the animal, and they are Jimmy Rabbitts, rabbitt as the last name.
Legally do they have a case?

1 AnswerTiVO & DVRs5 years agoShould I break up with the girl I love?
I ve been dating a girl for almost 2 years, and love her dearly, but i find myself thinking of breaking up with her.
We re both 25. Without getting too into it. i just find myself unhappy quite alot. She is always scared of upsetting people, anybody, family, friend, strangers, and i feel i always have to try help her with this stresses she brings on herself, but she always find something to be stressed about.
I just came out of a surgery this week, and came to visit her, and rather than recovering i feel i have to take care of her.
I feel I m losing respect for her.
We haven t had sex in 3 months. She either is on period, too busy too meet (rather doing extra work out fear someone will think badly of her), or forgot her pill. And she didn t trust condoms.
I have to specifically request her to go anywhere near my penis, (she NEVER did it off her own accord) cos she finds 5 mins is too long to get someone off.
I m fed up of feeling like a dirty old man trying to coherence someone to have sec with me, rather than a loving relationship where sex is normal.
She is a lovely person, but this constant stress she introduces for no reason, and the absence of any sexual progress. Are really getting to me.
1 AnswerSingles & Dating5 years agoCan you reuse disposable plastic glasses?
I'm running a comedy show every week, where we serve drinks in clear plastic half pint disposable glasses. At the end we collect all the glasses and throw them away, and buy new ones for next week.
It seems like a bit of a waste, of both materials and money.
Is it safe to wash these glasses, and then reuse them a couple of times?
Once they are thoroughly washed, are they safe to reuse?
3 AnswersBeer, Wine & Spirits6 years agoCan an employer give more hours to people they like, and dock people they don't?
I work in a national discount retailer.
A new manager has decided to give more hours to some people than others, consistently, regardless of how good they are at their job.
Is this discrimination in any way. Can they treat people differently for personal reasons?
8 AnswersLaw & Ethics6 years agoCan an employer threaten to cut your hours?
I work in a national discount retailer. I am on flexible hours, from 8 to 16 a week. (I usually get 16).
However, the employer keeps threatening to cut my, and others, hours over the smallest things.
I've been there for four months. On my tenth week I was late for the first time, by 15 mins. When I apologized, I was told "If you don't bother coming in on time, I'll give your hours to someone who will"
4 months in I was asked to work 27 hours. I told her I could only work 24 hours per week, as agreed during my job interview prior to accepting the job. She then said since I wasn't fully flexible she would drop me down to 8 hours a week permanently.
Is this kind of behavior allowed in business. Can you constantly hold people hours to ransom and threaten to cut them any time they inconvenience you.
10 AnswersLaw & Ethics6 years agoHow to deal with bullying housemates.?
Im a male, and I live in a flat with a couple and a girl.
The couple are a nightmare. They blame me for electricity bills cos I've a computer (even though they cook more, wash more, use radiators more, and use virtually everything else more than I do),
They pester me with complaints if I leave a plate out or drop crumbs (even when they do it consistently too) they try to criticise every aspect of the way I do laundry, they send messages to me when I'm away complaining of minor things like a missing tea spoon,
They falsely accuse me of not cleaning or buying things for house (when they disobey the their own cleaning rota and kitty system.
They say nothing to the other girl, cos the women are friends, so she sees nothing wrong. I can't leave the house cos there's no where else to go.
9 AnswersEtiquette6 years agoWhat if a witness lies on a police report?
I have a hypothetical question.
Let s say there s a couple, a man and a woman, and the man picks a fight on someone. He either throws the first punch, intimates someone, gets in their personal space, and in the act of self defense, the victim strikes back, or knocks the guy out.
If the only witness if the attackers girl friend, and she lies in the police report saying her boyfriend did nothing wrong, and that it was in fact the victims fault, what would happen.
That would be 2 against one. Would the police have to take the side of the couple?
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics6 years agoWhy aren t movies released in both R rating and PG 13 versions?
There is this constant problem where adult based movies, like Terminator/Die Hard for example, are being criticised for being giving PG 13 ratings, which dilutes the film.
But on the other hand, PG 13 allows for much larger audience to see the film.
Why don t they just make the film how they want, and then during editing, make two cuts. Basically have the same film, but with small cuts due to language, gore, violence. Then show the cut PG rated during the day, and the the r rated at night.
Problem solved. Anyone can go see the cut version, but then adults can go see a legitimate action film that doesn t have to be watered down to suit their kids, at night
2 AnswersMovies6 years agoSafe to eat reheated chicken?
My room-mates have cooked chicken for dinner. They ate half of it, and then let it cool down.
They then decided to put it back in the oven, for safe keeping... (IDIOTS)
I decided I wanted to make my dinner so I preheated the over for about 10 mins, and when I was to put in my food, i realise their mistake, and have inadvertently reheated their chicken somewhat
Is this safe to eat, or should I tell them thier chicken is ruined ?
