Yes cheap ammo for target practice not loud or powerful best of all cheap ammo my 1st was hand gun 357 couldn't spend much time at range with that

Great choice, lots of types and models to choose from and a variety of low cost ammo available and after you move on to centrefire rifles you will still keep the .22 and use it regularly.

Yes, have low recoil and ammo cost little, is good first gun allow you practice much an in skill.

If you are looking for a first time target rifle to learn proper shooting technique with, the .22 lr is the best choice. They are inexpensive to buy, inexpensive to shoot and don't create bad habits.

A 22 is a great choice but it can be deadly,so being safe is a big thing. I would go with a bolt action,
