External Microphone for Canon Vixia HF R800?
Hi, I was wondering how I can attach an external mic to the Vixia R800 since it doesn t have a spot to slide on the mic or cold shoe. I ve seen people scratch off part of the camera and glue a coldshoe on but idk if thats a good idea?

If you get a shoulder rig you could mount the mic on the rig. A rig for that great little camera would be super.

Get a simple L bracket with cold shoe and attach it to the tripod socket of the camera... there is your mic mount. Should cost $10 or less. For a few dollars more, there are models with 2 or 3 cold shoe sockets, allowing you to add both a mic and a video light.
