What are these two kinds of adjectives called? The boy is cool. The cool boy is over there.?

    I assume you are asking about "cool" in each sentence.

    #1. predicate adjective (joined to the subject by a linking verb, like "be", "become", "turn", "get", "feel" etc.

    #2. attributive adjective (directly modifying the noun).

    Some grammarians classify THE under adjectives as well, as a determiner. Others classify determiners as their own part of speech (which makes more sense to me).

    Under determiners, THE is an article (the definite article).
