I’m American and I moved to Germany a few months ago and have realized some things. First of all, so many white teens say the N word freely here. I was immediately shocked and angry and told them they shouldn’t say it because it’s a derogatory term that came from slavery times and is still used in a racist manner today. They just say they have black friends and it’s not mean. I don’t think they understand the whole American history with it. But am I wrong to think it’s wrong even if a German says it? Even if they don’t come from America? Also my German friend did a war cry and I got mad and they were just like” i played Indians all the time as a child what’s wrong with this” and also someone literally dressed up as a Native American to a Halloween party and I said it’s offensive and my friend said “it was your people who killed them, so when a German dresses up like them they are just having fun” Um haha what! European colonies slaughtered native Americans ! Am I being too sensitive and should I be understanding that they don’t think this way here and they don’t know better? Or should I tell them that things are offensive? 

We rented a hotel room to have sex for the first time because we couldn’t do it at our houses. He had troubles putting a condom on and it made him lose erection bc he “didn’t like the feeling and it made him turned off” them he got so upset and frustrated and said he couldn’t do it anymore and he felt pressured. What do I need to do to help? I was supportive and understanding but I have no clue what to do for next time

We’ve been dating for just two weeks now, I’m american and he’s german. It happened at least 3 times now. The first time was when I was looking at sweatshirts deciding between a pink and a green one. He said I shouldn’t get the green one because it’s too masculine and only he could wear something like that and that the pink would be best for me. The second time was when we were going to go to a techno club. I had a bralette under a sheer top. He said I needed to change because it was “too revealing”. The third time was when my socks “didn’t match my outfit” so I should change them. I feel bad for going along with what he says when I should stand up for myself and put my foot down to show that I can do whatever I want and I have my own opinions and he shouldn’t control them. Also he judged me for going on Instagram for just 2 minutes and said “I’m glad I don’t have Instagram on my phone it’s such a time waster” ok yeah true but don’t judge me for going on just for a short time. I need help and advice on why he’s doing this and what I need to do about it. Seems too controlling. I know germans are sometimes just honest but this is just rude to me. 

I will stay in Germany and apply for a residence permit once I get accepted into a university there, and my mom is coming to help me with visa, phone, bank, and apartment stuff. I read that sometimes they don’t let you in Germany if you don’t have proof of return or visa. I don’t have a visa yet or a ticket back. (We are leaving next month) I do have invitation letters for the entry exam from the universities but I don’t get acceptance letters until end of August. What should I do or should I even be worried?

i am from america but im moving to germany next month to study. are there any phone contracts that would allow me to text and call germans and americans while i am in germany most of the year and also allow me to text and call americans and germans while i am in america 3 months out of the whole year?

Do I need to get a completely new phone? Plan? Phone number? I don’t understand this process, as I have never gone through it before. I currently have an IPhone 7 and I use AT&T. Thanks!

I feel no positive vibes or love at home and sometimes my parents make me feel bad about myself or emotionally manipulated. My mom acts so much differently toward my brother who is 20. She laughs and is so nice to him and then with me she seems unhappy and gets offended by anything I do and makes me feel guilty. Tonight I was being open about how I am upset that the only time my family goes out to dinner or really spends time with each other is when my bro is home from college. My mom got so mad and offended and said that whenever they ask me to do something I go with my friends and not them. But like I can’t go out to ice cream with them cuz I’m lactose intolerant and idk if they forgot. They always ask me last minute when I already have made plans. And I don’t feel comfortable going out with them because my parents usually fight or I just get horrible vibes from them at dinner. I don’t even remember the last time they took me to dinner without my brother. Every convo w my mom makes me sad and I hate seeing that she treats my and my bro differently. My dad is usually mad for no reason or makes me feel bad for relaxing during the summer and they call me lazy. What do I do? I’m really trying to do what’s best for me and control my own happiness but it’s hard.

I m a senior in high school trying to decide this. I love learning languages (French and German) and also linguistics and music. This is what I want to study after high school. My german is probably at the B2 level (I haven t taken a test yet to know for sure tho) I want to improve my german and immerse myself in a new culture and be able to experience new things, but at the same time that s really scary to be that far away and might be overwhelming to take classes in german and hear mostly german. Plus, I also don t wanna miss out on that American college life ya know. Please help me Idk what to do or how I should go about deciding this. If I were to stay in America for bachelors, I would study abroad my sophomore year probably

I'm guessing probably not the day of the colonoscopy because I do horribly with anesthesia and I throw up a lot afterwards. But hopefully I can go the day after! I'm just worried that I'll be too hungry to focus at school the day before. Btw I'm getting an endoscopy at the same time. Help.

I have tried eating slower and have even taken tums after lunch but it doesn't work. What else could it be? What should I do?
