Why do some people say America has the worst health care of ANY country?
I get it, we lag behind many other first world countries and we can do better. I support single payer. But compared to most countries it isn't as bad. The QUALITY of care here is far more advanced than any country, it's just a matter of it being unaffordable and not accessible to all

Yes there is some very good care available but as you say it is only available to a small minority and unaffordable to most.
I used to regularly meet up with a US citizen. He had good health insurance.
Sadly he became sick.
When his insurance ran out and he was left in massive debt they sent him home to die and sent debt collectors after his wife.
How is that right?
675000 US citizens go bankrupt over healthcare bills every year.
The US is the only industrislised country in the world with a for proffit healthcare system.

My daughter suffered a brain aneurysm in Ontario Canada. She received surgery the very next day when swelling in the brain was under control. She spent three weeks in hospital and received excellent care. She now receives regular check ups and medication. No health insurance was needed and there were no hospital bills to pay. Don't believe all the BS you hear in the USA about single payer healthcare. It may not be perfect but my doctor and myself are in control of my healthcare, not the government and not a for profit insurance company.

It's much worse than that. Actually, its inaccessibility is one of its positive points, because that reduces the harm that it can do.
Those who can afford health care get far too much of it, and this actually hurts their health -- to the point that their death rate is as high as that of those who can't get health care.
The supposedly high "quality" care can do as much harm as good, especially because the driving factor that determines the amount of care is the financial needs of the provider, not the health needs of the patient.

We have Medicare for the elderly, on a fixed income. We have Medicaid for the poor and needy. We DON'T need a mandatory INSURANCE agent.....who TELLS a Doctor how to practice medicine.

Some medicine is not available in the other countries you admire. There are rules to WHO can get treatment. If you are older you can be denied medical care since your no longer considered of value. I know someone that waited over 2 years for a wheelchair in England and died before it arrived. At least in America charities will help with medical needs.

If you look into it, you'll find that spending more doesn't always result in better medical outcomes. The US is about the same as other OECD countries as it comes to medcial outcomes. You can see some points in easy to read charts here: https://www.healthsystemtracker.org/chart-collecti...

A man in America wins a million dollars. Decides to take his winnings and go see a doctor finally about his health issues, because he couldn't afford it before. Dies from stage four cancer.
Great job America! Best healthcare in the world and no one can afford it! Fukin Amazing.

I think they just mean worst of any rich country. You're right, the quality of health care is better here than anywhere but not everyone can get it due to costs.
People seem to forget that dozens & dozens of countries have populations where 80-90% of people have no health insurance or access at all. Countries where famine and disease are widespread and go untreated. Places that lack basic medical centers and doctors. I've seen documentaries on many countries that have such poor health care that people are hundreds of miles away from health centers and of course they have no cars or any transportation to get there, yet even if they could the quality of that care would be FAR WORSE than here due to lack of equipment, technology, medicines, and training that we have here and take for granted. Also the fact that you can find basic medicines in virtually any grocery store in America is something I take for granted
I support universal healthcare in US but we don't have it that bad compared
