You're too stupid to drive on public roads. Call upper and let the real drivers worry about the complex stuff.

You don't say if the wipers are working back and forth on the windshield or if you just have old worn out rubber blades. If the wiper arms are flopping around tun the wipers off so they park. Then pop the caps off the base of the arms where they pivot. Make sure the blades are in the parked position and then tighten the retaining nuts.
If the wiper blades just smear on the windshield go to an auto store and buy new blades. They help you put them on if you don't know how. That will cost under $25

Taxi rides charge each way, not for a return journey.

If your wipers don’t work well enough to clear the screen then it’s not safe to use your car.
$72 may seem expensive but it’s nothing compared to the cost of an accident which could kill or seriously injure someone.
But you might decide it’s better to skip that journey altogether and put the $72 towards repairing your wipers.
You failed to describe what the fault is, but new wiper blades usually cost about the same as one of your trips and take minutes to fit. If the wiper mechanism itself needs work then that job is more complicated and will probably cost more than the $72 (I’m assuming US $).
