im a gay girl with a crush on a new friend.
we ve never really hung out before. we just met this semester in one of our classes. but i casually asked her about valentines day plans and she said she had none. she asked me if i had any and i told her i didnt. so then she said that we should hang out on valentines day. we basically never did because she became ill, but do you think her trying to hang out on valentines day was a way of her possibly being gay/bi or saying she likes me, or was it just a friendly thing?

The proper term is "Lesbian" but she was most likely being friendly. it is unlikely that she is a lesbian and asking her may cause her to distance herself from you, it could become awkward.
