The abuse isn’t. But the roots of the abuse are the illegal activities involved in obtaining and possessing them to begin with.

Yes opioid or any drug use is extremely illegal there is the thing that's called the label law which says it is a violation of federal law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling all opioids have been classified by the DEA and they have specific medical directions even if they are not legally obtained they still have label directions when a doctor prescribes them and if you are caught violating this law the penalty can be very severe ranging if you're lucky from a drug recovery program to 20 years in prison I know a local person that got found in possession of only two oxycodone tablets without a prescription and he got 14 years in prison for it it can really happen so don't put it to the test if you're a drug addict save your butt get into a recovery program fast
