How do I download pictures from my phone to my computer?

I have an LGK10 phone, and I would like to download pictures from it to my laptop. I can connect it to my computer using a USB cable. However my computer does not recognize the device. When I click on the phone icon on my computer, it says the folder is empty and that there's nothing to download.

Is there a work around here? Do I need to download a special driver to my computer so I can download images?

If your computer didn't recognize the device, you would not see the phone icon at all.

You need to go into the settings on your phone and change the USB connection option so that you have a USB-PC connection. This will allow the computer then to see the pictures in the folder.

Unplug  the USB cable and see if the phone icon goes away. You should be looking at "this pc" screen or "this computer". If the icon does not go away, it is not the one for the LGK10. If the LGK10 is not detected, go to the LG phone support site for the driver.

Is your phone turned on? I had a similar problem before I realized the phone does not automatically turn itself on when you connect it to the computer.

You may need a driver 
Go to the LG support site for your model in your country. I checked on the uk site but only the lgk100 shows in support.

I usually just email mine to myself and download them from my email. You can also take them off your sd  card if you have an sd  car reader
