Regular old mouse trap
baited with an unpopped kernel of popcorn
has always worked fabulously well for me (much better than peanut butter).
I think the color and luster and smell of the popcorn all attract the mice.

I had a rat in the dirty kitchen. Went in to get a trap. Came back. There was a Cobra in the dirty kitchen. Never seen the rat again. Have you tried a snake?

I use pets. I have 2 dogs that catch mice and kill them. Poison works but the rodent will get thirsty and chew through hoses connected to faucets, washing machines, fridges, etc to find water. Cats will also hunt mice. I use traps that are baited with cheese or peanut butter. Sticky traps work for small mice but rats will pull themselves off.

I like the plastic Quick Set traps from Victor (look sort of like a desk stapler). Baited a couple with peanut butter and put them where the mice have been looking for food, caught three in two days.
