Help!! So in my 25 gallon aquarium I have 2 platties, 4 cherry barns, and big algae eater, snail, and 3 danios my platties mares and now?
I have a bunch that are hiding in a plant to keep safe, some unhatched eggs etc and a still pregnant guppy. This is my first rodeo on raising baby fish! My big question his how to I get all those little ones in a net breeder etc? I’m nervous I won’t be able to get them all of miss one. They are all mostly hidden in a plant? Also I’m going away on vacation in the next week. I heard that the other fish would eat my frys but I’m not sure. I really want them to survive! How should I go about doing this? How to I get them in the net safely? Food wise? And what’s the possiblilty of them surviving if I keep them in my big tank and don’t use a breeder net? What’s gonna happen to these! I was so excited but now I’m so worried for them.

You have to put the pregnant fish into the breeder net before she has the fry. breeder nets are set up with holes or slots at the bottom, Fry will instinctively swim down to hide from predetors, so they will go through the holes and into a different section of the breeder and be safe from the mom.
if she has the fry outside the box, you can try to catch them in a turkey baster and put them into a breeder box. You will miss some, its not a big deal. it is heltier and less stressfull.
If you dont try to catch the fry, they will be eaten by the other fish, you have a lot of fish in that tank. Honestly, you have too many fish already, and No room for more. I strongly recomend you get a larger tank for the fish you have and the current fry go naturally.
once you have a bigger tank, you can use it as a large breeder box.
You need to feed the baby fry tiny amounts of crushed flakes or other fry food 3-4 times a day, and clean up uneaten food often. If it doesnt work out this time, they will breed again, and hopefully you will be more prepared. Live bearers can have more fry then you can ever take care off, so dont feel too bad about it!
