The battle royale genre seems to be getting more attention than sandbox games these days. It could also be that it is free-to-play, which does attract many players who don't have funds or can't afford higher-rated games. I'm not really into this game, but with a fan base of about 40 million strong, you can bet all the cool kids at school are gonna crave this for a while.
