What are the qualifications for baptism?

One of the main things would have to be those whose hearts are turned to God and who have grasped the sense of fundamental Bible truths. The would probably already be engaged in public preaching as Jesus command to go and make disciples of people of all the nations. They would also have repented of their past sins and made every effort to succeed in changing and conforming to God's will.

Jesus also stated that his followers should 'disown' themselves and continually follow him. So on getting baptized we give up all our 'rights' to ourselves and relinquish ownership of ourselves to God. In essence we say 'no' to ourselves our personal desires, ambitions or convenience. It is a big step and not one to be taken lightly.

Willing to get wet.

Believe that Jesus died for your sins and rose from the dead on the third day in victory over death and Ask Jesus to forgive you and save you. Then be baptized to show the world of your decision to follow Jesus

Baptism does not mean anything without repentance. At baptism, we witness or covenant with God that we are willing to turn from our worldliness to leading a Christ like life. Going down into the water is symbolic of being born again. The very meaning of repentance is to turn to God. Similar to a marriage, the covenant binds us to God as long as we stay in the covenant.

The qualification for baptism in the Christian church is declaring Jesus as our personal Savior from sin, understanding what that means and why we believe it.

It is standing up and being counted as a redeemed child of God.

Baptism is a public and physical illustration of dying to our old Self and being reborn into God's family as a New Creation in Him. (That's what the water is for. It represents our spiritual cleansing. We go under as sinners and are raised up in New Life in Him).

It is an intentional choice and can not be done for us.

There are no qualifications. Babies are baptized all the time.

Repentance and obedience - obedience is faith in action.

[Mark 16:16] Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

Not much, even new born babies are baptized.

As was common in the majority of many of the earliest of Hebrew traditions, ‘baptism’ remains another example

of how many things which are considered "necessary" for belief, are nothing more than suggestive and allegorical.
