If you're an adult male with bipolar disorder would you mind sharing your experience with me?

I'm pretty convinced i've been living the past 15 years or so with bipolar disorder. I'm 25 now and I had no idea what bipolar disorder was, i just had an ignorant perception of it and never even began to think i had it until recently. I feel elated being able to understand why i've been the way i am but scared as well... I'm just wondering what other adult males out there have to say about it, their experiences, etc. In particular, their manic or hypomanic experiences. Also if treatment helped, how you deal with it now, etc. Anythings welcome. Thank you.

Since this appears to be a self-diagnosis why not schedule an appointment with your family doctor and show them what you have written here. Use that as a basis for having a frank discussion on how you are doing. They can do a full physical and neurological workup to see if have a medical condition that needs to be addressed. They can also check if anything you are taking or doing may be causing or contributing to your issue. They can refer you to a mental health professional who can evaluate your mental state. Be sure to show them what you have written here also. Once a diagnosis has been made, treatment options can be discussed.

I'm a girl but I also suspect I have bipolar (I'm 22) I know that it usually starts in late teens/early 20s (25 on average) so maybe you've had it less than 15 years. My suspicions started a couple of years ago so ive been recording my moods which can be difficult because when I'm depressed I don't want to do anything (including record my feelings) also when I was 14/15 I had delusions that lasted a couple of years then I didnt get any for ages until this past 12 months I've had 3 (one being grandiose other 2 were paranoid). At first I though I had ADHD because I get so hyper and do a lot of stuff that reflects ADHD but I realised its like a pattern where I get all excitable and happy but I also get depressed and down.

I also know if you have relatives with bipolar or depression or another mood disorders then you are more likely to have a mood disorder (most people have/have had mood disorders on my fathers side)
