Anywhere my two cats and I can stay?

I live in Edmonton, AB, Canada. My landlord has sent pest control to fumigate my place and I need a place for my two cats and me to stay. The catch is that I'm a night shifter and my landlord wants to do it on a day where I work that night, so I won't have time to take them home before I go to work. None of my friends can help and because neither of my cats are vaccinated ('cause I can't financially afford it) I can't put them in a boarding service. I don't own a vehicle, so I can't put them in there. All hotel rooms cost hundreds of dollars and most don't allow cats! If I could afford the hotel room, then I'd be able to afford the vaccinations! I've tried Google, but now I'm EXTREMELY desperate because my landlord gave me LESS than a week's notice for this!

Update:

Thankfully, my Mother made the suggestion of me borrowing her tent and pitching it in the back yard. Thank you for all of your suggestions!

Update 2:

On top of that, my upstairs neighbors actually managed to convince our landlord to call off the fumigation! Panic over, no need for any of this. THANK YOU EVERYBODY WHO ACTUALLY SUGGESTED SOMETHING!! (rather then calling me out for being a bad cat mom because they weren't vaccinated. Here's a hint: one has asthma and thus can't be vaccinated by order of the vet and the other was an emergency rescue that I wasn't really able to plan for) Anyways, thank you again everyone!

Honestly, if you can't afford something as simple as vaccines you can't afford pets. A rabies booster and core shots probably cost under $50 at a vaccine clinic. I'm not sure what to tell you, it seems every option you have you can't afford. Maybe you should consider rehoming one cat if it means you can afford to care for the other, or both if you can't afford the bare minimum for even one. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but it's the truth.

A vet may have boarding but you will have to pay for it. There are plenty of places you can board the cats but you will have to pay for it.

Since you refuse to vacate no vet will board them and no pet place will board them. Since you can't afford vaccinations then you need to surrender the cats since you can't afford basic vet care and have no business what so ever having pets since you are lazy and too cheap to own them

Call your vet. Most vets will provide boarding for a day - my vet does it all the time for these very same circumstances. There are also other boarding options - call around. Your cats need to be up to date on their rabies vaccines for boarding.

Look in your contract to be sure there isn't some sort of allowance for this. Try harder to find a friend. Vaccinations shouldn't be a big deal. The cats would be in a separate room, anyway. I opt out of vaccines because of risk of "vaccine-induced sarcomas".

Ask if rather than chemical pesticides, you can apply borax, or diatomaceous earth, or baking soda. These work and are safe. You and the cats would not need to leave.

But, if this is a multi-family unit, you would still have chemicals seaping into your unit.

Consider moving to a single-family unit and apply the natural products listed, each 6 months.

I would try harder to find a friend or family member for the day, it's only one day.

If your cats have fleas, get generic Capstar (Nitenpyram) online. Give one each 2-3 days for about one month, and use baking soda on carpeting.

Some groups vaccinate cheaply. Try advertising on Craigslist/Pet section: Wanted cheap vaccination clinic. Get records.

Cattery - there has to be one locally!! And don't be in a hurry to take them back in there until you've have the doors and windows open for several days.

There are inexpensive motels that allow pets. I bet some are on bus routes. Make sure you open the windows afterwards and air out the place for 3 days. The chemicals are very unhealthy and your cats will notice more than you will.

can you put them in a cat carrier and take them to work that night? otherwise try the goodwill or wmca

Put the cats in boxes with food and a note. You can hang out some where during the day
