    Bats are in the classis (class) Mammalia (mammals) not Aves (birds). They are mammals not birds.

    Our Intelligent Designer grouped bats with certain birds that all were unhealthy for humans to eat as a food product for disease prevention reasons our human scientists haven't figured out yet but our Intelligent Designer was well aware of. It was at a time when mankind's lack of scientific knowledge led us to think bats were some kind of birds.
