Why is it hard to make friends in college?

I struggle with making friends. I grew up so isolated and never acquired those vital social skills as a child. I find it hard to make friends because of my social anxiety and fear of rejection. I’m a rising junior and most people have found their friends already. How can I turn things around and enjoy my last two years of college?

Join something. I joined the campus radio station. Both at my CC and university. Theater is a good place to make friends. You can help out backstage with sets or props, in the box office.

What do you like to do?

My son has always been shy. He never has had many friends. But he loves to game. Strategy games, board agames, warhammer. He started a club in high school and found other at his university that game.

I have the same problem! Just find people with mutual interests. What are your favorite subjects? What is your major?
