It means that God has prepared the earth for mankind to live on. When he resurrects the righteous, they will be put on earth, they will not go to heaven.

It means that right-hearted people living in the very wicked system of things have a bright future to look forward to. It goes along with what is said in Revelation 21:4.

"And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

    Exactly what it says.

This is a homiletic line; a pep talk.

It means: A Christian confronts the real challenges of suffering and injustice by never letting an inspirational platitude go to waste.

It is manipulation, aimed at the Jews.

Jews during ancient Roman times were something of a downtrodden people. They were constantly invaded and conquered by some empire. First by the Assyrian Empire, then Persians, then Alexander, then the Romans.

It is aimed at the Jews, promising them that one day, they will be the ones ruling, instead of being ruled.

Regardless of what it means to me, personally...

it is a reiteration of the promise that God made to the Israelites regarding their possession of the "Promised Land".

    Expanded, it means:

"The righteous of Israel will live in the Promised Land forever."

I point out one particularly salient point: the ancients at this time had no concept of the sort "earth = planet". For them, "earth" had one of the other standard meanings of the word, such as

    - soil

    - territory

    - land (as opposed to sea)

    etc.

It means nothing to me. It's fiction.
