The typical thing that people do is google things like this.
There are standard gauge sizes for different piercings, but depending on what you want you can get a bigger gauge.
Where it sits on you depends on you and your anatomy, that is not something we can say.

It's definetly going to hurt so be prepared for it,your best bet even if it's an embarrassing question is to ask a professional peircer.

I have a frenum done and the piercer will know the size you need and have fun with it my gf loves mine

I've gotten my nipples pierced so I know what it's like to have a delicate area pierced. Research your piercer, ask as many questions as you need. As for infections, as long as it's done with a clean needle, good quality jewellery and you look after it properly with salt water solution everyday, it should be fine.
