is it okay to use "ing" with the verb "wish" and say "I've been wishing" isn't wish a state verb?

    Yes, it's fine -- just as you would say: I've been hoping, thinking, etc. Calling them "state" verbs is just silly.

    If you have been engaged in the act of wishing over a period of time, it's correct to say "I've been wishing".

    its okay. almost every state verb uses +ing except for some. state verbs have exceptions that some people need to learn (understand, etc.)

    "i've been wishing for a dog for so long!"
