Should I buy a 2006 Ford Explorer?

2006 Explorer Eddie Bauer v6 with 140k miles the guy wants $1200 and it needs transmission work would you buy it ?

    The transmission will cost you about $1600 to rebuild or replace it.

    Absolutely not. For the money you would put into that to keep it propped up, you could get a F-150 with a back seat and a much better engine and transmission. Look for one that's had one owner and hasn't been plowed. You're already looking at building a whole new vehicle with rusty fenders with that one. It could be free and you shouldn't want it.

    Sounds like the owner already found out why mechanics call it the FORD EXPLODER. Best price out a tranny and transfer case before deciding if it's worth buying!

    Make sure you clean the transmission cooler and lines by flushing them before running new ATF through them!

    Nah, you'll be in the shop within a month spending another $2k on a transmission.

    Nope. You will spend $4000 for a transmission change. Car is headed to the junkyard.
