Would this be a great standalone origin R/NC-17 rated horror film on DC villian The Joker? Johnny Deep as The Joker directed by Rob Zombie?

I think Johnny Deep should play the lead as The Joker before his life into crime and what made him a villain. The movie should be very dark and also be directed by Rob Zombie, which would be unique due the fact that Rob Zombie has never directed a standalone origin film based off a DC character and DC has not really went that dark in the tradition of Rob Zombie's classic horror film The Devils Rejects.

The Jokers name (Jack) was a Lab Assistant, quits his job to becomes a stand-up comedian to support his pregnant wife. Unsuccessful at being a stand-up comedian, Jack agrees to help mobsters with a robbery, as he becomes The Red Hood and his eventual turn into The Joker.

Jack wife was murdered by a corrupt policeman working for the mobsters the same mobsters he agreed to help with the robbery.

Johnny Deep is a very skilled actor that could pull off a performance as Jack, a Lab Assistant, then beomes The Red Hood and eventually The Joker. He has played villains before

There was already a movie where Johnny Depp played the Joker. It’s called “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and he was horrible at it

Sounds like a darker version of the character's origin from The Killing Joke story.

Not sure about Zombie as the director of a Joker film. His films tend to be very bloody and gory, which doesn't fit the Joker too well, who is more psychological horror (like the Killing Joke story).

Is Johnny Deep Bollywood's answer to Johnny Depp?

Seriously, though, no. The Joker needs no origin story because that is part of his entire mystique: nobody knows who he is or who he was - he could be anybody. To give that a concrete background is doing a great disservice to the character.

Rob Zombie's take on the character? I don't know if he could do it justice either. He has definitely grown as a director since "House of 1,000 Corpses", but even his take on the Halloween franchise has been divisive for similar reasons as to what I mention above for The Joker: taking an established character with an enigmatic back story and giving him an origin.
