No one said it did. It matters only when you claim to be the People’s choice and you’re not. That assertion deserves refutation.

We cannot convince them of anything. They don't understand the purpose of it and don't want to understand. They are like toddlers that want what they want the way they want it.

It should. In the electoral college, not everyone's vote counts the same.
Example: California has 55 electoral votes, and Delaware only has 3. A California voter's vote counts about 18 times as much as a Delaware voter's vote. In a popular vote system, their vote would be equal.
