Do you think false prophets are intentionally giving false prophecies, or do you think they believe it's God?

In your answer, please remember Balaam in the Old testament. He was a false prophet but did not know it.

Balaam's prophecies about Israel were accurate. He was not a false prophet at that point in time. Later, he gave in to greed and also gave Israel's enemies a strategy to destroy Israel another way. As a result, Balaam was killed by Israel when they destroyed Balaam's allies.

Some might and some also might not have, in the past, had contact with demons. For example, who knows what Muhammad encountered in that cave that day. After the event, he thought that he was possessed and he even tried to kill himself by throwing himself off a cliff... One thing is for sure, though, it wasn't God. The Bible says this, for example, Galatians 1:8, "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed" and Deuteronomy 32:17, "They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not."
