Is there a reason for soccer s substitutions being so stringent?
I am starting to watch soccer more because I overall love sports, but coming from American football and basketball, which have pretty lenient substitution rules, to soccer, i was wondering why the sport is so strict with substitutions. With a game that requires so much running, is there a reason why they don t substitute like basketball and document minutes?

There used to be no substitutions. If a player got injured you had to play one man short. Then they allowed one substitute, now three substitutes. Players are super fit and should be able to run for the whole game, unless they get injured. I don't know a thing about basketball so I can't answer your question about it.

Alien Sports have been around for so long they have come to understand the ways of CHEATING.
American Sports, is One form of Cheating after the other.
"Running into other players" to eliminate scoring players of the other team.
"Pretending to have injuries" to gain unofficial time outs.
"Messing with the Ball", to gain advantages.
"Spiking players", "Running outside baselines", "Stepping into the pitch for a base."
"Fistfights, and Brawling.", "Arguing with Officials"
So in the end, American Sportsmanship is How to Cheat and get away with it.
