It shouldn't. Mine is usually plugged in that way as well, though not for that purpose.

MTBF applying to a laptop battery is first to go, normal time for a business person would be 2 years, but doing this more like 2 months.
When battery goes it will be "addicted" to AC. You can fix it by DIY a new battery into the casing.

You can leave it plugged in 24/7 but undoubtedly you will be shortening its life. All electronic equipment fails eventually some sooner some later but they all fail eventually. All components with a laptop have an MBTF - mean time between failures - these are the average number of hours before the component fails - these are usually of the order of 50,000-100,000 hours
