It's the Mandela effect. Some people claim they saw news reports about Mandela's death in the 80s. And there were riots because of it. Their theory is that there is some alternative reality or parallel universe where he died in the 80s, and for some reason their memories are from that universe.
Another example is how some people were shocked when they realised New Zealand is east of Australia, and not west like tjey always believed.

That's supposedly the Mandela Effect. It was widely believed he had died in prison during the 1980s. In reality, Mandela was actually freed in 1990 and passed away in 2013 – despite some people’s claims they remember clips of his funeral on TV.
Same as most people will tell you (wrongly) that the wicked witch in Disney's Snow White says "Mirror, mirror, on the wall ..."

If you mean Nelson Mandela, obviously not.
No-one can correctly 'remember' that, as he died in 2013 - not in the 80s.
If anyone thinks he remembers him dying in the 80s, he's mistaken.

Many people tend to get dates wrong.
So them thinking something like that is not surprising.
But he died 2013 for sure.
