Medical doctors eh? Doing a study on people praying in tongues. Meaningless drivel. Prayer has been shown to not work at any better rate than chance. And just because ABC reported on it doesn't make it any more credible.

protestants aren't Christians. Christians don't speak in tongues.

You can tell its bullshit just by listening.
They sometimes go into a loop, repeating the same sound six to ten times. That's the brain looping the same sound while it tries to figure out another sound that is different, but not to different so as not to sound out of place.

The speaking in tongues mentioned in the Bible was not gibberish. It was speaking in a normal language that the speaker did not have to learn. The purpose was to teach people of all nations and languages about the Christ.
Acts 2:2-6
Suddenly there was a noise from heaven, just like that of a rushing, stiff breeze, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And tongues as if of fire became visible to them and were distributed, and one came to rest on each one of them, and they all became filled with holy spirit and started to speak in different languages, just as the spirit enabled them to speak.
At that time devout Jews from every nation under heaven were staying in Jerusalem. So when this sound occurred, a crowd gathered and was bewildered, because each one heard them speaking in his own language.
By the end of the 1st century, the good news about the Christ was firmly established in many nations. Then there were enough Christians to proclaim this message without the need of the gift of tongues. So this "gift" was done away with. (1 Corinthians 13:8-10)
The Scriptures show that it was “through the laying on of the hands of the apostles the spirit was given.” Therefore, when the apostles died, and when those who had received the miraculous gifts through them passed from the earthly scene, the supernatural gifts of the spirit, including speaking in tongues, ceased.—Acts 8:18.
Today this speaking in tongues is not from God. It is another tool that Satan uses to keep people from learning the truth about God and his purpose. (2 Corinthians 4:3, 4)

Glossa means language.
some people try and make a new religion from a misinterpretation of the scriptures.
babel does not come from FATHER.
the spirit of error is showing when you babel in church.
a mythical language? (NO)
Acts 2 FATHER does the translating.
anywhere else in the NT a person must learn another language to share the gospel.
to teach or translate.
a second LEARNED language.
Acts 2 is a divine language.
GOD does the translating. (in everyone's first language)
i could stand next to a Japanese person and they would hear nihongo while i hear english.
(at the same exact moment) - even down to the very dialect of the language.
this is coming. - and coming soon!!!
Matt 10 shows it. / Rev 2 as well (church of Smyrna)

The meaning of tongues is different languages. Soon, there won't be "tongues" and everyone will speak one language.

Who were they praying to? It could not be to God, but they thought so.
modern-day speaking in tongues is very different from the gift of holy spirit given to Jesus’ early followers.
In fact, there is no reliable record of anyone receiving that same miraculous power since the death of the apostles.
This is not surprising to Bible readers. Regarding the miraculous gifts, including that of speaking in tongues, the inspired apostle Paul prophesied:
1 Corinthians 13:8
Love never fails. But if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away with; if there are tongues, they will cease.
