Why do I always wake up with a really fast heartbeat?

For years now, I have been waking up with a very fast heartbeat. Whether it be a nap or a deep sleep, I always wake up like this. Sometimes it s more noticeable than others and can also be accompanied by heavy breathing. I m an 18 year old girl if that has any relevance.

There's at least four possible causes your doc could look into: anxiety or sleep disorder; problem with neurological control of the heart such as postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome; or an abnormality with the heart itself. Your doc will have to evaluate you to make a diagnosis.

This is probably not serious, but you should discuss it with a doctor just in case. Some tests may be in order.

This is really not a good place to get medical advice.
