Att uverse phone and internet installation?
i currently have att phone and dsl internet. It would be cheaper to go with uverse phone and internet. My question is this. Can they just run it through my existing phone line. When you open my box on back of house its wires. Can i continue to use my current phone jack my modem is plug into. Or do they have to run a Ethernet cable to where i want my modem plug in at. This would mean moving my computer.I have it hard wired into modem. Thanks.

I am retired, so I don't know the new stuff. But I do know the way it should work.
You existing telephone wire, from the world to you, will stay the same as your existing DSL modem. If you want it correct, you make the modem wire a straight point to point wire from the NID outside to the jack in the wall for the modem.
The new U-Verse gateway has four Ethernet ports, similar to your existing router, and any Ethernet cables will move from router to gateway. Also has WiFi built into the Gateway.
Your analog telephones will still work. There is a two line telephone jack in the gateway to feed your telephones. Preferably, you rewire your inside wire your telephone service does not extend to outside. Exactly how you would do this depends on your existing wiring -- where you need someone that knows telephone wiring.
