Why has my wrist been hurting?

So, I have a job that involves a lot of work with my hands (cooking, dishwashing, cleaning, sometimes lifting heavy things, etc). For the past couple weeks I have been having pain in my left wrist. If I have like two days in a row off from work, it doesn t really hurt too much, only when I bend it a lot. But tonight, I worked the closing shift which involves a lot of work, and now my wrist and the bottom part of my hand hurts a lot, even if I barely move it. What s going on?

Before you do anything check whether your employer has work place insurance or is required to have insurance by law.

Please see a doctor and get a sick certificate to take a week off work due to work place related injury - report it to your boss within 24 hours of the injury becoming apparent and report to the workplace safety insurer as well as right after you see the doctor. Make sure to tell the doctor that you developed this right pain at the end of the day while at work! The doctor will need to record it as a workcover claim and get paid by the insurer - so make sure you can claim the employers insurance first before you do anything.

Even if you can't you can still sue the employer if he fires you for needing to take a coupple of weeks off due to work place related injury.

This type of injury is known as a Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI).

If you continue working while it hurts you could develop carpal tunnel syndrome, which can easily mean constant pain for the rest of your life.

    Please take care of yourself.

Hell if I know, that's what doctors are for, they xray it and are able to tell you you have hand cancer or whatever! I mean obviously you are straining it, over using it, pulling and tugging it ...naturally there is going to be pain. Omg! I mean duh!!!
