Changing my last name to my girlfriends?

Yes, I agree , often hear stupid surnames and wonder why people put up with them. So I can understand, just do it, if people ask you why, tell them the truth, that your name , you did not like, if they think strange then who cares.

It’s unconventional, but if you don’t like yours and like hers I don’t see anything wrong with it.

I don't think you should worry about it. Do what you want!

Who cares what any one else thinks? you can change your surname by deedpoll, see a lawyer it does not cost much, there are also websites that do it, look under deedpoll, make sure once you have changed your name that all your documents are changed into your new last name, bank cards, passports, all that stuff.

I would say go for it.

If you are worried about public opinion (ie the rest of your family) change it to a double barrel with your name first then hers. You then use yours as an initial and drop to having only one surname as soon as you like.

Say your name is Otis Pratt and you are marrying Ms Driftwood

Married names becomes Pratt Driftwood which you never use

You are then known as Otis P Driftwood.
