    It's either the imprint of a fern or some mold growing on a plate. It's difficult to tell from a picture. What was on the plate previously? Was it stale food? Then it needs a good scrub in Milton or bleach at the very least.

    I wouldn't fancy eating off that plate ever again if it's mold or a fungus of some kind

    Could be a colony of bacteria or fungus, could be mold.

    From a pic nobody can say for 100% certain, which is why chemical analysis exists.
