What are your thoughts on unique names?

See, I personally love them, but I dont know if I would actually name my child some of these because I would be scared of them getting made fun of or something....then again, I think there is a ton of unique names that it wouldn't make them that different.

So these are the unique names I LOVE:

Sorrel

Truly

Juniper

Guinevere

Daya

Raven

Silas

Shiloh

Taran

Atreyu

Nehemiah

Does anyone else like these names?

I dont consider a lot of these to be unique. Guinevere, Shiloh, and Daya are a little old fashioned actually. I love the name Raven ((thank you The 100) The 100 is a tv show). I've never heard of sorrel, but I am a fan of Soren. I also like Juniper. That I find unique and cute. And the rest I either dont like or have never heard of let alone know how to pronounce properly.

I like uncommon names. Most of the names you have listed aren t unique to me at all; I have heard them all before except Sorrel (which is quite pretty), Taran and Atreyu (not a huge fan of either). I don t like names that sound made up.

don't give your child a unique name because they will forever be asked what or how to pronounce or spell their name, people will never even remember the name, give them a happy name that's easy for people to remember and say.

I had a friend who's name was Theresa Green, pronounced "trees a green", I also used to know a girl called Sandra Beech, of course she was Sandy Beech, they got teased a lot but everyone remembered who they were.

I have little room to make comments on unique names since I gave my daughter a name that would very likely be considered unique by most people. (especially in my area.)

However, there are two things I do hate. One is changing the spelling of common names in an attempt to make them "unique". The second is taking ordinary words and using them as "names". If you can't tell if someone is talking about a certain person or a certain object, then it is probably a word that shouldn't be used as a name.

Juniper sounds sweet. Raven sounds like an emo. Truly sounds kinda dum but not too bad. The others are either difficult to pronounce and some i recognise from the bible. Trust me im a 14 yr old ive dealt with many names. Id choose juniper.

I do like the name Atreyu.

Personally I like unique names way more than when parents think they are being edgy by giving them traditional names that are spelled weird af..
