Is Auston Matthews the first openly gay NHL player?

I don't follow many NHL players personal lives. So like the question says, is Matthews the first openly gay NHL player or has there been others?

    He is not openly gay, if he was yes he would be the first NHL player to come out.

    If he indeed came out (and I haven't heard that he has), then he would be.
