after something. the question here is what the thing is that the memory is tested after. You could examine a person's subsequent memory of traumatic events. Subsequent can be used to be relatively specific in a time sense to the immediate time after an event, rather than just any time after an event. A is followed directly by B, and it would not be uncommon to say that B is subsequent to A, something that happens after A and before anything else of importance.
