PLEASE HELP!! When is Nexplanon effective?

I looked this question up on Google and the main result was (and my doctor pretty much told me)

"Nexplanon starts working right away if it was placed within 5 days after the start of your period. If you had Nexplanon placed at any other time during your menstrual cycle, use another method of birth control, like condoms, for at least 7 days. Ask your healthcare provider to see if this is needed."

I'm honestly confused by this response. Does this mean I have to get my period for it to be effective? I haven't gotten my period in over a month and it was inserted about 3 weeks ago so does that mean it's effective now?

If you got it inserted whilst you weren't on your period, it was effective a week from then. If you were on your period, it is effective immediately. Basically: it's effective now.

    Yes, it’s effective.

As that description states quite clearly.
