Are there names for the different styles of ship design in Star Trek?
During the period of the shows and the movies the way they designed ships changed in Star Trek. Many of the designs fall into a similar architectural styles. Is there a name for these styles, if there are what is it?

There are many different classes of ships on Star Trek. You can find and see them all with their descriptions by searching for “Star Trek ships”.

As in today's U.S. Navy, similar ships are "classes", identified by the first ship of the class.
The original starship Enterprise is considered "Constitution Class", after the first similar ship.
Our U.S. nuclear aircraft carrier fleet is considered "Nimitz Class", after the Nimitz (CVN-68)

Each style of ship does have a classification.
For example the original Enterprise (TOS) is Constellation Class. The Enterprise in Next generation is Galaxy Class. The one in First Contact (and movies after that) is Sovereign Class.
Voyager is Intrepid Class.
The Defiant is.....Defiant Class (classes tend to be named for the first ship of that type). The Excelsior (early movies, commanded by Sulu) was also Excelsior Class.
