    The same 200 or so, songs on the play list on those "Classic Rock" stations.

    It's all about advertising revenue (money), and popularity.

    Depending on the age bracket they're targeting, when surveys are conducted, and people are asked what their top 5 or 10 favorite songs are, most will answer to what you are hearing on the radio now.

    Even though many know of other good songs, they reply with what they can think of, off the top of their head. So, the popular stuff tends to stay popular, and played over & over & over. Remember too, the advertisers want the most bang for their corporate buck, so the station will keep on doing what has been successful for them in the past, and the advertisers will keep on making annoying, attention grabbing, commercials..... As long as it stays popular, and sells product.

    Quality, in this case, is not a priority.

    Good songs are beaten to death.
