How/where can I wear this dress besides as a brides maid?

Dresses like that are actually fashionable now, but it's NOT a bridesmaid-style dress.

It looks a bit transparent. If so, put a flesh or pale pink colored satin slip under it. Otherwise, just wear it with nude heels, either closed-toe pump or strappy sandals. You could wear it out for evening, as a wedding guest, or to a variety of somewhat dressy occasions. Carry a little clutch bag. You could also remove the self-belt and use something else -- a skinny gold or silver belt, or a white patent belt (very thin in width).
