How to get the model look?

Im a Dark skin black guy. And would LOVE to become a model. I have been to two agencies in my city and they both rejected me. One didn’t call back- the other said I wasn’t their ‘look’.

1) What does this mean?

2) what should I change? I have a very short Afro, no tattoos , average build etc

3) what did I need to be chosen?

You shouldn't hate yourself and nor should you change for others' opinions. I may not be giving you what you need to hear right now, let alone what you want, nevertheless, always remember that God made us all- and we are all beautiful creations in his eyes. (Jeremiah 29:11, for us being shaped the way we are.)

Most models, either male or female, need to be tall and thin, with light muscles, good posture, and nice facial expressions. The agency was courteously telling you that you didn't have their "look", because that was the exact truth.

For optical reasons, the camera seems to add up to ten pounds to a person's appearance in a photo. A model needs to know how to compensate for this.

Well, take a look at photos of models in catalogs and on-line merchandise sites. Perhaps you'll see if there are changes you can make that will improve your chances of becoming one yourself.

Height and the right body type (wide shoulders, narrow hips, long legs, pin thin ankles, muscle without bulk - naturally skinny). If you're going to be working print (magazines, ads) you need a gorgeous face that appeals to all races, if you're going for the runway, nobody cares about your face but your body has to be absolutely PERFECT.
