Not entirely: but some string together phrases such as "Is common sense seem..." rather than "Does common sense seem..." which makes sense.

I've always said that common sense is an oxymoron.

The philosopher Bertrand Russell is quoted as having said, "Most people would rather die than think and most people do." So it's not just in this day and age.
